Smoking
On 1 July 2007 the no-smoking policy came into effect in the UK. It is now against the law to smoke in an enclosed space. If you would like to quit smoking or get some information about how stay motivated after quitting, the student health adviser can speak to you about various programs and products available to help you. Some tips to quit smoking:
- Give up with a friend and support one another
- Keep busy or use distractions e.g. take up a new hobby or exercise
- Reward yourself with treats using the money you will be saving
- Brush your teeth and remind yourself how much fresher your breath is now you've given up
- If you get a craving then make a phone call, take a shower, go for a walk. By the time you've done one of those things the craving is likely to have gone
- Remind yourself of how much less wrinkled your skin will be in 10 years time. Smoking is one of the main causes of skin ageing ( along with excessive sun exposure)
