Exhibition '111 Interiors'
Ben Kelly RDI, UAL Chair of Interior and Spatial Design (2013-2016 Project) invited staff, students and alumni to contribute to '111 Interiors' an exhibiton planned to be installed with the Central Saint Martins Window Galleries in April 2016.
The exhibition will be a continuation of Ben Kelly's ongoing campaign ‘Popular Culture and the Interior’ and follows on from the symposium hosted at the ICA last year: ‘Interior Design: Dead or Alive’. Kelly believes that interiors house and shape culture and that this exhibition will be a manifesto that asserts the importance of interiors in our cultural life.
This project will take the form of an exhibition of images of inspirational interiors submitted by UAL staff, students and alumni that were influential or inspirational to their creative or intellectual development.
Participants include graphic designer Peter Saville, critic Alice Rawsthorn, artist and UAL Chair of Drawing Stephen Farthing, designer Barbara Osgerby, sound artist and UAL Chair of Audio Culture & Improvisation David Toop, artist Lucy McKenzie, musician and UAL Chair of Interactive Digital Art Fred Deakin, artist and UAL Chair of Art in the Environment Lucy Orta, Peter York, fashion designer Charles Jeffrey, writer Michael Bracewell and milliner Stephen Jones.
The exhibition took place in Window One of the Windows Gallery at Central Saint Martins, from 14 to 29 April 2016.
