How can the projected image be used to convey an experience, the material and physical essence of place?

London College of Communication

This practice-led study seeks to critically evaluate ways in which artists’ film can capture and convey the ‘essence’ of place through a phenomenological approach, concerned with the ‘experience’ of place. This research explores the relationship between spectator and the material properties of the projection screen, through representation, reproduction, recreation and the medium itself, combining the 'elsewhere' of a projected image with the 'here' of the installation.
