Announcements
How do I add announcements to my course site?
The Announcements tool allows important messages to be displayed on the entry page of each Blackboard course site, creating an online notice board. Announcements can be easily updated, and they can be emailed to all course participants.
Announcements is a communications tool that provides a way to get time-sensitive information to students without needing to send an e-mail. Announcements will appear on the Blackboard Start Page once a user logs into Blackboard, as well as in the course site. Announcements are displayed as a list with the most recent announcements appearing first.
Creating an Announcement
- Click on the Control Panel in the left hand panel.

- Select Announcements under Course/Organisation Tools.

- Click on the Add Announcement button.
Announcement Information
- Enter a Subject: in the text field.
- Enter the full message in the Message: text field.

Options
- Select No to create an Announcement that will not appear permanently.
- Select Yes to create a permanent Announcement. The new Announcement is automatically displayed after the time and date it is created.
- There is no start or end date set for this Announcement unless the Display After and/or Display Until option is selected. Use these options if you want to set the dates for the announcement to be visible.

Course/Organisation Link
- To create a link from the Announcement to a specific page in your Course/Organisation, click Browse. Choose the location to which you want to link. Click Submit.

Email Announcement
- Select this if you want this Announcement to be emailed to everyone with access to the Course/Organisation.

- Select this if you want this Announcement to be emailed to everyone with access to the Course/Organisation.
Submit
- Click Submit to finish. You will see a receipt to confirm your choices. Click OK.
- Click Cancel to quit. Nothing will have saved.

Modifying an Announcement
- Click on the Control Panel in the left hand panel.

- Select Announcements under Course/Organisation Tools.

- Click Modify. Located to the right of the Announcement to be modified.
- Make the relevant changes to the announcement.
- Click Submit to add the modified Announcement.
Removing an Announcement
- Click on the Control Panel in the left hand panel.

- Select Announcements under Course/Organisation Tools.

- Click Remove. Located to the right of the Announcement to be removed.
Multiple Sites Announcement Tool
The multiple site announcement tool is a feature that allows course teams to add the same announcement to one or more course sites. This tool provides a convenient method for placing the same announcement on multiple course sites saving time and duplication of effort.
It is important to double check that only the course sites to receive the announcements are selected when using this tool. The following section describes how to use the multiple site announcement tool.
- Click on the Communication in the left hand panel.

- Click Multiple sites announcement tool from the list.

Subject
- Enter a Subject: in the text field.

- Enter a Subject: in the text field.
Announcement
- Enter the full message in the Announcement: text field.

- Enter the full message in the Announcement: text field.
Permanent
- Select Yes or No to make the announcement permanent.

- Select Yes or No to make the announcement permanent.
Please select the Course(s)/Organisation(s) you wish to post your announcement to.
- Select the Course(s)/Organisation(s) you wish to post your announcement to.

- Select the Course(s)/Organisation(s) you wish to post your announcement to.
Submit
- Click Submit to finish. You will see a receipt to confirm your choices. Click OK.
- Click Cancel to quit. Nothing will have saved.
