External Links
Adding an External Link
External Links are links to Web pages you want your students to access. You can add external links to any document area in Blackboard.
- Click on the Control Panel in the left hand panel.

- Click on Manage Course/Organisation Menu under Course/Organisation Options.

- Click on the External Link icon at the top of the page.

Set Area Properties
- Enter a name for the URL in the Name: field. This is the name that students will click on to open the page.
- Enter the complete URL in the URL: field. Remember, URLs are case-sensitive and must be typed exactly. You must include ‘http://’.
- Do not select the Open in new window option as this will take the user out of the Blackboard environment and it also breaks the History trail within the Browser.
- Check the box next to Allow guest access: if you want guests to access this area of the course. This only applies if you have made the course available to guests and made the course tool available to guests.
- Check the box next to Available for Student/Participant users if you want students to have access to this area of your course.
