  • Fifty Years of A Clockwork Orange Conference on the 28 to 30 June 2012 in Manchester: to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange (1962), the International Anthony Burgess Foundation is organising a multi-disciplinary conference to examine its profound and enduring impact on literature, film, music, theatre and society. The conference will be supported by the UK premiere of Burgess’s Clockwork Orange music, a new Burgess/Kubrick exhibition at the John Rylands Library (in collaboration with the Stanley Kubrick Archive), and a film season at the Cornerhouse cinema.   • The Genius of Hitchcock: The BFI will be presenting a host of gala screenings of Alfred Hitchcock's silent films as part of the London 2012 Festival, from June to October 2012. Each screening will be accompanied by live performances of new scores from musicians such as Soweto Kinch, Nitin Sawhney and Daniel Patrick Cohen, with more still to be announced.   • The Stanley Kubrick travelling exhibition will be in Amsterdam from 21 June to 9 September 2012 at the EYE Filminstitut Netherlands (http://www.eyefilm.nl/en/exhibition/coming-up-stanley-kubrick/coming-up-stanley-kubrick) and in Los Angeles from 28 October 2012 to 30 June 2013 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art - LACMA (www.lacma.org).

  • Her Noise: Feminisms and the Sonic. This series of events investigated feminist discourses in sound and music through a programme of talks, performances, discussions and film screenings at Tate Modern, from Thursday 3 May Saturday 5 May 2012. The programme marked the donation of the Her Noise Archive to the University of the Arts Archives and Special Collections Centre. More information at Tate Modern website.
  • Kubrick's Spartacus was shown at the BFI as part of the 26th BFI London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March 2012. More information at the BFI website.
  • 26th BFI London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival: took place from 23 March - 1 April 2012. Offering a varied programme of feature films, special events, shorts, archive classics, experimental and erotic works, the Festival is one of the longest-running celebrations of queer creativity in the UK.   • Considering Vietnam Conference (17-18 February 2012 at the Imperial War Museum London): the conference explored how the media and popular culture have shaped our understanding of the Vietnam War. Speakers included veteran journalists Don McCullin, Michael Nicholson and Philip Knightley (his archive was donated to the Archives Centre and is currently catalogued). The conference was produced in association with the University of the Arts Photography and Archive Research Centre (PARC) and the London College of Communication.   • Film on Sunday: Artist's Choice. White Cube Gallery in Bermondsey screened Barry Lyndon on Sunday 12th February 2012 at 2pm. More information on the White Cube website.
  • Student Film Festival London (3-5 February 2012): was held at the London College of Communication. The festival screened feature films and a selection of shorts representing the best student work from both British and world cinema judged by experts. Visitors were able to book a tour on the University Archives and Special Collections Centre. More information at sfflondon.org website.
