Rights & Responsibilities
The Learning Zone is a social space designed around you and your needs. You can eat, drink, talk on your mobile phone and chat to your peers, whilst you enjoy our facilities and support. What we ask you to do is respect your peers and the friendly Learning Zone staff, never leave borrowed equipment unattended, always put your rubbish in one of the numerous bins in the space and always feel welcome to ASK us a question, we really are here to help you! Rather than have a million rules, we hope that self-regulation and common sense will provide guidance on use of our space and our interaction.
If you feel that we could offer more, we could improve what we already offer, or you think that some of what we do is not fair or inclusive then please feel free to feedback this information to us at learningzone@arts.ac.uk and we will guarantee a response to your concerns. You can also leave feedback in our postbox (by our main door) or one one of our feedback boards.
In response to feedback in 2010/11 we:
Extended our term time opening hours to open from 8.30am Monday-Friday (instead of 10am). This was achieved through support from LCF Media Services and Learning Support.
We installed a bulk feed onto our Black and White Photocopier
We now have 2 print top-up kiosk and print release stations to ease congestion
Reconfigured the space to increase the flexible working area
Bought a Comb Binder to allow self-service binding
Our laptops now allow wireless printing and additionally the Windows PC laptops can access your H:drive files. This was achieved with a lot of help from the IT Network Services team.
We added an A4 Laser Jet printer for you to use your own paper in (as long as it won't kill the machine!)
Eliminated some rules and took down many irrelevant notices to clean up the space
All staff now wear lanyards or Brown 'ASK' t-shirts to be more easily identified
