Access to electronic resources

The e-Library is a gateway to online resources. Library Services subscribes to many collections of e-journals, reports, indexes, images collections and other resources on your behalf, and this is how they are made available.

The web address of the e-Library is:

http://www.arts.ac.uk/library/e-library.htm

Home access to e-Resources

Most of the e-Resources we subscribe to can be used off-campus. See the off-campus access page for more information.

Help

For help on using the e-Library, please see the e-Library Help page.

Using other libraries

A listing of other libraries is available here:
http://www.arts.ac.uk/library/other.htm There are a number of schemes that offer distance learning students access to other HE libraries in particular:

UK Libraries Plus
As a distance learning student you are able to use the libraries of some higher education institutions for reference under the UK Libraries Plus scheme (UKLP). In addition you can have limited borrowing rights from three of these libraries. Contact your home library for information about joining UKLP. Further information on this scheme, including a list of participating libraries, can be found here:
http://www.uklibrariesplus.ac.uk/

Sconul Vacation access scheme
The vacation access scheme is a national scheme which allows you to use the libraries of most higher education institutions for reference during the vacations. Some libraries limit this to summer vacation only. Use the following link to check on participating libraries and telephone numbers, term dates opening hours etc.

Letters of introduction
If you want to use a library that is not a member of either of these schemes you may need a letter of introduction. Please contact your home library giving full details of the library and what they require.
