Royal Photographic Society (RPS)
The Royal Photographic Society was formed as The Photographic Society in 1853 with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as patrons. It was granted the use of the title 'Royal' by decree in 1894. The Society's mission today, as in 1853, is 'to promote the Art and Science of Photography'.

The web site of The International Festival of The Image. The festival revolves around exhibitions, talks, a print auction and the hugely successful portfolio review event, where creatives get the chance to meet one-to-one with publishers, gallery directors, curators, picture editors, agents and other representatives of the image world for advice on portfolios and to promote and maybe sell work.

AfterImage
An extensive and comprehensive site from a commercial gallery in Dallas, Texas, with a wide variety of images. "The AfterImage Gallery is an art gallery devoted exclusively to photography. It was established in the fall of 1971, making it one of the oldest such galleries in the world."

The American Museum of Photography
A Museum Without Walls...for an Art Without Boundaries. Exhibitions at The American Museum of Photography are drawn from the Collection of Wm. B. Becker. The Photographers' Gallery
The first independent gallery in Britain devoted to photography. It is also the venue for the annual Citibank Prize, with the work of shortlisted artists displayed at the gallery and on the website.

MUNDUS Gateway to Missionary Collections in the UK
The Mundus Gateway is a web-based guide to more than four hundred collections of overseas missionary materials held in the United Kingdom. These materials, comprising the archives of British missionary societies, collections of personal papers, printed matter, photographs, other visual materials and artefacts, are held in a large number of libraries, record offices and other institutions in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Links page contains links to useful web sites in the British Isles, Continental Europe and the wider world while the Gallery provides a snapshot of the extensive range of visual materials to be found in many missionary collections.

PhotoLondon
A new portal showcasing historical images of London. This is a brand new site that hopes to promote photographic collections with a particular London theme. The site also provides background information on photography in London.

SOX: The Secret Oxford Photography Project
Secret Oxford is an archive of over 5,400 pictures of Oxford. It is a snap-shot of everyday life in the city, and provides a unique record of 14 hours in Oxford (7am to 8pm) on 7th June 2001 - election day.

The Digital Photography Exhibit
An annual international juried competition presented by Bradley University. The exhibit contains work from artists working with cameras and computers. It also includes information from the artists about themselves and their work. Previous exhibits, since the first competition in 1994, are also available on the site.

FotoFest
FotoFest is a non-profit, international arts and education organization based in Houston, Texas. It's purpose is to create an international forum for the exchange of photography and ideas and to promote public appreciation of photographic art. It's principal art event is the biennial International Month of Photography in Houston, one of the largest photography biennial events in the world.

Documentary Photography: Jacob Riis
A computer aided learning program developed at Nottingham University. The program is freely available to download and install on a pc for education, private study or research. It uses the example of works by the American photographer Jacob Riis to teach the analysis of documentary photography.

Eyestorm
Describing itself as "a place to discover, explore and acquire contemporary art and photography" this site is beautifully designed and has many interesting features. The 'Artists' section provides access to brief biographies and work samples (for sale) for artists/photographers as varied as Blumenfeld, Brancusi and Andy Goldsworthy. Uses Flash technology (option available to view Flash-free version).
