Biography

Patrick McGrady is an Associate Lecturer for BA (Hons) Film and Television at London College of Communication. He is also a BAFTA-nominated TV Director, Producer and Executive Producer, and the Creative Director of award-winning production company Wavelength Films.

For Wavelength Patrick has developed and directed documentaries for all the major UK broadcasters, and a feature length documentary, Wagner & Me, which has been an official selection at numerous international Film Festivals and released in cinemas in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the USA. He has served as an elected member of the PACT council and is a member of Directors UK.

For Wavelength, Patrick's credits as a Producer / Director include:

  • Sean Bean on Waterloo (2 x 60’ for HISTORY): A two-part special presented by Hollywood actor Sean Bean to mark the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo in June 2015.
  • The Man Who Shot Tutankhamun (1 x 60 for BBC4): The untold story of the photographer who helped create the legend of the Pharaoh.
  • Andrew Marr on Churchill: Blood, Sweat and Oils (1 x 60’ for BBC4): An alternative biography of Churchill as revealed through his lifelong passion for painting.
  • Wagner and Me (1 x 90’ theatrical / 1 x 60 BBC2 and BBC 4): Award-winning feature documentary about history’s most controversial composer. Released in cinemas around the world (including UK, USA, Europe and Australia) and an official selection at many international festivals (winner of Audience Choice Award at Rhode Island International Film Festival).
  • Stephen Fry and the Gutenberg Press (1 x 60, BBC4 & BBC2): BAFTA-nominated film about the world’s first media revolution.
  • Felicity Kendal’s Indian Shakespeare Quest (1 x 60, BBC2): The actress returns to her childhood home to explore India’s love of Shakespeare.
  • Suggs’ Italian Job (8 x 30’ Sky Arts HD): Madness legend Suggs makes a road trip through Italian culture.
  • Disappearing London, Series 1 & 2 (12 x 30, ITV London / Sky): Royal Television Society award-winning programmes about London’s vanishing history.
