Andrew Millar – MDes Service Design Innovation
What did you study at LCC?
I graduated with a masters degree in Service Design Innovation (now MA Service Experience Design and Innovation).
Where are you from in the world?
What are you working on/where are you working at the moment?
Foolproof as an Experience Designer
Name three things you couldn't be creative without:
Sleep – problems are smaller with fresh eyes; Mess – my desk is a mess with books and toys to allow play; Tension – always good for creativity.
If you could collaborate creatively with anybody in the world who would it be?
The latest set of graduates. Every generation has a new viewpoint. The latest grads are generally more tech savvy, and less tarnished by industry.
Tell us about your future plans and ambitions:
I dream to have my own start up one day. I have a big idea that I am slowly churning away in the background <<watch this space>>
What drives you to succeed?
Digital as a social leveller. The fact there are so many poor designs in the world. Pain points within large organisations. Being a catalyst for change. Every day getting a little better at what I do.
What three words would you use to best describe LCC:
Diverse – a great mix of people from all places. Labyrinth – the building is a maze. Collaborate – ultimately everyone is working toward a collective goal.
What piece of advice would you give to new students?
The small stuff – always sweat the details. A big idea is only as good as it’s smallest part.
Where in London do you go when you need a little inspiration?
Queen Street Market, Green Street. Perfect for a hit of cultures, foods, smells, visuals, sounds.
