Darren Cudjoe-Cole – BA (Hons) Sound Arts and Design
Darren Cudjoe-Cole is a graduate of BA (Hons) Sound Arts and Design at London College of Communication. Find out about his time at the College and UAL.
What made you choose that course?
I wanted to expand my knowledge of sound, including capture and processing of it.
Where are you from in the world?
What was the last piece of work/project you worked on?
I recently just finished a project entitled 'the beat box junkie'; a project comprising of sounds from the mouth and live instrumentation.
Please tell us about the approaches, techniques and tools, you use in your work.
The software tools I use are varied from Pro tools to Logic reason and Cubase; all have their strengths and weaknesses.
Name three things you couldn't be creative without:
Creativity comes from within so as long as my brains intact I’m confident of creating; however without my recording equipment, and computer it would be difficult.
If you could collaborate with anybody in the world who would it be?
I would love to score a Steven Spielberg film as his movies tend to be quite dramatic which I feel represent my music perfectly.
What music do you like to work to?
I enjoy many genres of music from Jazz to soul hip hop to dance and jungle classical, reggae as long as there is vibe and rhythm to tap my feet to Ill entertain it.
If you could have a studio anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to have a studio in L.A that would be fantastic.
Tell us about your future plans and ambitions.
My plan once graduated is to create sound and music for television, film and theatre.
What three words would you use to best describe LCC?
Interactive, sociable, professional.
What do you enjoy most about LCC?
I enjoy the fact that it is very easy to collaborate across many disciplines and make acquaintances in this way.
Where do you go when you need a little inspiration?
What piece of advice would you give to new students?
Meet and collaborate as much as you can, as the friends you make here could be friends and working colleges well into the future. Also enjoy and have fun as time flies quickly, make sure to utilise all facilities.
