Ash Sargant − BA (Hons) Sound Arts and Design

Ash Sargant graduated with a first-class honours from BA (Hons) Sound Arts and Design at London College of Communication in 2006. He has gone on to create his own record label and works for Sony Computer Entertainment.

Where are you from in the world?

South of England, UK.

What are your fondest memories of LCC?

Improvising live with David Toop, building an Aeolian Harp and learning about electromagnetic audio with Peter Cusack. I wrote my dissertation on it and recorded it as a hobby. Also, learning how to contextualise art and grounding it in science and/or philosophy, rather than producing art for art's sake.

What are you working on at the moment?

My own record label and digital releases, ongoing sound design work and I also work full-time for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (PlayStation).

What excites you about Sound Arts?

Hearing sounds that have never been heard before. Defying conventional art practices.

Name three things you couldn't be creative without:

My ears, my imagination, my sequencer/sampler and synths.

If you could collaborate creatively with anybody in the world who would it be?

Com Truise; Clark; DJ Krust; Benoit Pioulard
