What made you choose that particular course?

I have always been interested in print media especially the fashion aspect and when I came across the course on the internet I was very overwhelmed.

The course structure sounded amazing, being able to create a magazine of my own and have full responsibility, as well as learn other structures. One aspect of the course that stood out to me was the chance to learn editorial as I have always wanted to become a fashion/ beauty journalist and learn it all in the heart of the capital.

Where are you from in the world?

East Yorkshire/Hull

Where are you working at the moment?

I am currently working at IPC Media producing editorial content for the following magazines: Insider, Marie Claire, VolksWorld and Camper&Bus Magazine.

Can you describe your work in your own words? (Ideas that shape it, stories you want to tell, a person, artist, place or subject that inspires you).

My work entails a lot of research gathering information and ideas, attending press shows and photo shoots as well as exhibitions that we do. Most of my ideas and concepts come from the research, looking at different angles and prospects of how I can shoot products and communicate them through the magazine, shaping and narrowing them down to one that will contextualise and relate to the brief.

I also find inspiration through a favourite photographer of mine David LaChapelle. I find his work to be very informative and he engages with his audience through his fashion and fine art structures. His works are very commercialised to show the changes in the culture and society today.

Please tell us about the approaches, techniques and tools, you use in your work.

The techniques I use are the ones I learnt while at LCC. Firstly, I have to think strategically to make sure it is the correct content for the magazine, who will read it and what I want to communicate. I then plan and develop the idea from meetings with the Editors which will then go into a final story ready for press. I have to make sure the correct information is communicated correctly to the right readers of the magazine.
