Anum Zafar is in her second year of BA (Hons) Design for Art Direction at London College of Communication.

How would you describe your practice (e.g. are you a photographer, designer, illustrator etc)?

Art director, photographer and conceptual artist

Where are you from in the world?

Derby, East Midlands

Why did you choose to study this course and why LCC?

This was the only course of its kind. I felt I could perfect and evolve my practice whilst learning new skills. I also chose LCC because of the amazing print facilities.

What was your first impression of LCC when you joined?

The first thing I noticed was how friendly and welcoming the College campus was.

And what’s your favourite thing about LCC now?

The Workshop Block.

What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on through your course so far?

The last project I worked on, which was based on the De Beauvoir area in Hackney. My interest was in the high quantity of lost dogs and how the owners chose to advertise in the area. I created a campaign to find the missing dog ‘Rosie’ consisting of a billboard signage, a clothing range and a mockumentary.

What important piece of advice would you give to students thinking of studying this course?

Have an open mind and read, a lot.

What three words would you use to best describe LCC?

Busy, Creative and Diverse.

Could you describe your style or what you try to achieve with your work?

I just like to have fun with what I do and I enjoy creating exciting and intriguing experiences for people.

Name three things you couldn't be creative without:

People, Books, Internet

If you could work with any client in the world, who would it be and what would you want to work on?

The list is endless, however I would love the chance to work with Lady Gaga.

How have you found living in London, and where’s your favourite place to explore?

I have loved every second of living in London, there’s always something going on. I don’t have a specific place I like to explore, but I do enjoy finding random pop up stores and fashion events going on.

What are you hoping to achieve after you graduate?

I hope to be a successful Art Director and start my own creative agency.
