Lee Mackinnon

Lee Mackinnon is a Senior Lecturer on BA (Hons) Photography at London College of Communication. She is also a PhD advisor for Photojournalism and Documentary Photography.

Lee’s research is largely situated in fields of comparative media studies, technology and postdigital visual culture. She is interested in the shifting technical paradigms that affect how we see, think and communicate as well as the implicit power structures that shape cultural practice. Recent papers have explored the politics of automation and nature; feminist theory; data representation; and ethics in the practices of photography, film and literature.

Lee currently teaches contextual and historical studies on the BA (Hons) Photography programme at LCC, and on the MFA course (Masters in Fine Art) at Goldsmiths College.

Her art practice is multi-disciplinary and includes drawing, photography and film, and has featured in exhibitions at The Bloomberg Space and Camden Arts Centre. Recent commissions include artwork for the Japanese pop group, Viva Sherry (mottomotto Records).
