David Sims

David Sims - Programme Director, Graphic Communication

David is the Programme Director for Graphic Design Communication at London College of Communication, where he manages both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the programme.

Previous posts include Course Leader for BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design and Principal Lecturer on the FdA Design for Graphic Communication at LCC, as well as a combination of roles in both course management and teaching at FE level.

David’s continuing research output has focused on the use of technology in learning and teaching. He recently worked with the Institute of Education on exploring best practice approaches to assessment in pre-degree arts qualifications. David is currently working with Dr Rebecca Bramall at LCC and Dr Liam Stanley from the University of Sheffield on Reimagining Taxation: Annual Tax Summaries.

David collaborated with the UAL Awarding Body on a review of the Art and Design Key Stage 4 specifications for GCSE and A-level. David is currently working with the UAL Awarding Body on the redevelopment of the Level 3 Diploma and Extended in Creative Media.

David has recently undertaken a Knowledge Exchange sabbatical at Beyond Words Studio. The objectives of the sabbatical were to gain a better understanding of the design process and workflow of data story telling within the commercial/private sector and how data is used to tell human centred narratives. David has developed MA Data Visualisation at LCC with Henrietta Ross and the first cohort will start in October 2018.
