Alistair McClymont is an artist, designer, and developer working as an Associate Lecturer on MA Graphic Media Design and a Lead Tutor on the BA Graphic Media Design courses at London College of Communication.
As an artist, Alistair exhibits internationally with a varied practice encompassing installation, sculpture, image, sound and video. Recent exhibitions include the Tate Modern, Stereolux (France), STUK (Belgium), MU (Netherlands), The Royal Society and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
As a designer, Alistair has worked with institutions, companies and artists to realise projects both physical and digital, his digital/design work crosses over between code based presentations and physical installations. Recent work includes the creation of apps for Michael Craig-Martin/Serpentine Gallery, Aldeburgh Music/BCC, animations for Julian Opie, an installation for a BMW/Sky Arts ident and an installation for Illy Coffee.
Alistair’s practice stems from his education in Fine Art and his experiences working as a designer and developer. From his studio in London, he produces artwork in a wide range of materials and his making skills range from machining, welding and woodwork to electronics, lighting and video. His design and digital coding work have been ongoing since creating his first website in 1995 and has involved working with a range of large and small agencies to his current freelance practice. Both fields merge and regularly cross over.
Alistair has been invited to talk at exhibitions and conferences, including the Royal Society and Somerset House in London, State Festival in Berlin, MU in the Netherlands. Alistair holds an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art.
