As Dean of Media at London College of Communication, Karin Askham leads undergraduate and postgraduate courses in photography, sound arts, interactive design, digital media, animation, film and television, media theory, journalism, PR and publishing.

Her previous post was Associate Dean of the Graduate School at London College of Fashion (LCF), supporting the transformation of the postgraduate teaching portfolio of the College. Karin's extensive teaching career has built on experimental approaches to the notions of the 'staged moment' and culminated in the founding of both the BA (Hons) and MA in Fashion Photography courses at LCF. She has also worked closely with companies such as Nokia, Red Bull, Elizabeth Arden, River Island, Procter & Gamble and Alias Wavefront, developing and building relationships to support the student experience in every way.

Latterly, Karin's practice as a photographer, exploring the fashion 'staged moment', has resulted in her work being exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently in Sweden as a contributor to the 'Drawing and the Body' exhibition. Her work on camera with Mitra Tabrizian was exhibited at Tate Britain and has toured extensively internationally. Karin’s earlier photographic work has been featured on record covers and numerous publications including Attitude, The Face, NME and Tank.

Her early career post was held at the University of Westminster where she was Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Photographic and Digital Imaging Sciences programme.

Karin holds a BSc (Hons) Photographic Sciences (first class) from the University of Westminster and an MPhil (Studio) from the Royal College of Art.
