This course will encourage creative practice, experimentation and the development of your screen printing vocabulary using direct methods of screen image making and print application. You will learn to use the ‘screen as a sketchbook'.

You will be introduced to a different approach to the conventional screen printing process and outcomes. By the end of the course you will have developed a creative practice portfolio.

Level
Intermediate: You should have completed Introduction to Screen Printing or equivalent. If you are in any doubt regarding your abilities please contact us for clarification.

Tutor information

Tony Braithwaite was an industry silk screen printer apprentice at 16 years old until he was 21. He was a journeyman until the age of  25, and then a  Production Manager until he was 28. Tony was the Senior Screen Printer at London College of Printing (now London College of Communication)  for 16 years. He is a specialist in fine art screen printed editions, and has been artist in residence on several occasions in USA and Europe. Consultant for many years Tony is now approaching his 40th anniversary as a Screen Printer.

Materials

You may want to bring an apron or old t-shirt to wear and a notebook and pen to make notes.
