Effective media management skills are essential for a range of roles in PR, communications and marketing. By using real-life examples of business people and politicians in the media, this course will teach you the principles behind delivering an effective media interview. It will cover the basic rules of giving interviews that convey your key messages, and adapting these to the format whether that's print, TV, radio or online. It will cover tips and tricks for dealing with difficult questions and communicating with broadcast media in a crisis situation.

Tutor information

Chris Tucker, BA Hons, CAM, MCIPR. Chris began her career in the marketing sector. She has, however, spent the past 25 years in Public Relations working in the voluntary sector for drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity, Turning Point, in the public sector for the Post Office, and in a variety of PR positions for Barclays Bank. At Barclays she was responsible for communications in a number of areas as diverse as business-to-business, international, Corporate Social Responsibility and IT before finally taking up the position of PR Director for the Barclays Group globally. 

Today Chris advises a number of PR agencies on communications planning for their clients. She has her own business mentoring executives seeking to develop their PR careers and she also provides media training. Chris is a Special Lecturer at the London College of Communication, part of the University of the Arts London, and is a Course Leader for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Diploma which she teaches at Masters level online and face-to-face for one of the CIPR’s largest teaching centres.
