Using a DSLR camera to illuminate the process, you will write, direct and edit a film. You’ll learn the visual language of filmmaking, camera settings, lighting control, framing, and getting to grips with technical equipment and editing software, enabling you to tell a story through film.
You’ll work in a group, taking a variety of different roles to create a film you can use to apply for further study or work opportunities in the film industry.
At the end of the course there will be the opportunity to screen your film to friends and family. An opportunity to network, socialise and build contacts.

- Understand the visual language of filmmaking
- Write a short script or documentary story treatment

Who Should Attend
This course has been designed for people who want to know more about the film industry and filmmaking as a profession. It is perfect for you if you want to apply for further study in filmmaking, or are exploring a career in production, directing or editing.
Beginner: You do not need any previous experience but you should bring with you an idea for a film you would like to make.

Rufai Ajala is film maker specialised in the art of cinematography, working with clients such as Paul Smith, VOGUE, i-D Magazine, NOWNESS and others.
Educated at the Arts University of Bournemouth, under the training and tutelage of Witold Stok(BSC)
He is also an educator. Having worked with the Prince's Trust, BBC Blast, Eventful Workshops, The Accra Street Academy and now as an Associate Lecturer at London College of Communications | University of the Arts London
His longest working relationship has been with director/fashion photographer George Harvey.
Mentored by Simon Foxton, his research interests and self made work focuses and revolves around the idea of cultural - political norms and subverting those ideas, as well as; focusing stories and narratives on sexuality and QTIPOC (Queer, Trans, Intersex People of Colour) folk and centring those narratives.
