BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography students are commissioned to renew Royal Mail’s brand photography gallery.
The collaboration, launched in December 2016, sees twelve photojournalists from the second and third year in BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography travelling to locations in London and Scotland to capture the daily workings of Royal Mail. As a UK and international business, Royal Mail constantly produces new communication materials and requires an image library that is refreshed with new pictures.
Royal Mail approached LCC looking to partner with a prestigious London based education establishment which focuses on communication. The commissioned students will direct and produce 12 photo-shoots, working alongside Royal Mail’s Brand team. They will imaginatively interpret a series of topics, ranging from portraits of staff working in remote locations, to people receiving packages on their doorstep.
The photo-shoots will take place from January to August 2017 and will be used across Royal Mail’s communication channels. The students applied to take part in the project by submitting a range of imaginative photographs on the theme of e-commerce.
Fanni Sutus was one of the successful students to be commissioned as one of the photographers. Fanni’s work includes a series of before and after pictures, featuring people transformed as they receive lovely packages through the post and getting ready to go out.
"Collaborating with such a well known company like Royal Mail is an extraordinary opportunity, especially as a university student” said Fanni. “We hear a lot about how to be prepared for the 'real world' in our graduation year - this assignment is a great chance to make a strong base of our portfolio.”
