English Language requirements

You will need to show proof of your English ability when you enrol. We offer language support if you do not meet the English level required for your course.

Which English tests and qualifications are accepted by UAL in addition to IELTS?

Students will have to take a language test from our standard list unless they are exempt from testing (see below). Please see the following for the list of tests accepted by the University. Important note: there are two documents: ‘Courses below NQF 6’ (Access, Foundation, Cert HE, FdA) and ‘Courses at and above NQF 6’ (BA, PG Dip, GradDip, PG Cert, MA, Mres and PhD). You should check the language requirements of your course first – the charts show the general scores required by the University, but some courses have unique requirements.
