Professional and Career Development Loans

The statutory Student Finance system does not apply to students on FE courses. You cannot apply to your LA or Student Finance England for help with fees or loans. However, for some courses you may apply for a Professional and Career Development Loan.

The Professional and Career Development Loan scheme is run by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), in partnership with Barclays Bank and the Cooperative Bank.You can borrow money to help fund up to two years of study. You do not have to bank with one of these banks to apply. You pay back the loan on a monthly basis when you've left your course, so if you are planning to go on to another course afterwards, this loan is not recommended. You may only apply for a Career Development Loan, if you are permanently based in the European Economic Area.
