Information for applicants interested in applying for AHRC funding for a Masters course at UAL in 2012-13
UAL receive a small number of awards from the AHRC for MA funding, these awards are not made on the grounds of financial hardship but are awarded to the most promising students.
The awards are for UK and EU citizens only.
You will be required to submit a separate application for AHRC funding at the University of the Arts London. Application form for AHRC funding. Please refer to the guidance notes for information on how to complete this form.
You must have already applied for an eligible MA course at the University of the Arts London by the 1st March 2012 and been offered a place on the course by 5 April 2012.
The deadline for submitting AHRC BGP funding applications is 2pm on Tuesday 24 April 2012
- Applications must be submitted to the University of Arts London Research Management and Administration service both electronically, as an email attachment to bgp@arts.ac.uk, and as a signed hard copy to Research Management and Administration, University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, Granary Building, 1 Granary Square, London N1C 4AA
- Applicants must not send applications for AHRC funding directly to the College. Applications submitted to any College office will not be accepted.
- Applications for AHRC funding received after the 2pm, Tuesday 24 April 2012 deadline will not be considered.
Please read the AHRC eligibility criteria below very carefully
- You must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for consideration for nomination for a studentship at the University of the Arts London:
- You must have been offered a place on a University of the Arts London course which offers a recognised postgraduate award as stated above
- The course you have a place on or are applying for must be either:- Full-time and last a minimum of 9 months OR part-time and last a minimum of 12 months.
- You must hold or expect to gain an undergraduate degree before 31st July of the year the course begins OR can evidence equivalent relevant experience that meets the University's AP(e)L policy.
- You must not hold and or currently be studying for another postgraduate qualification, e.g., MA, MSc, postgraduate diploma or postgraduate certificate in the UK or elsewhere. Previously unfunded students are eligible to receive funding for the second year of a two-year course provided the second year meets the minimum duration requirements (see above). However, if a student will gain a Postgraduate Diploma at the end of their first year they cannot then apply for the second year to gain a MA (or equivalent).
- You must not be a member of staff employed at the University of the Arts London in a full-time or part-time salaried position during the period of the AHRC award.
- To be considered for a full AHRC masters award, an applicant must show that they have a relevant connection with the UK. This is usually determined through residence and means a physical presence in the UK.
- For UK/EU citizens with three years prior residency in the UK preceding the start date of the award, the following awards are available:- full time awards which carry funding for the duration of your course (fees and maintenance) OR - Part time awards which carry a maximum of twenty four months funding (fees and maintenance).
- For UK/EU citizens without three years prior residency in the UK preceding the start date of the award the following awards are available: - Full time awards which carry funding for the duration of your course (fees only) OR - Part time awards which carry a maximum of twenty four months years funding (fees only)
Please note the following:
A relevant connection may be established for an EU student if the student has been ordinarily resident in the UK throughout the 3-year period preceding the start of the course (including for full-time education).
