Julienne studies MSc Cosmetic Science. Here she talks about her experience of the course so far, how she loves lab lessons, and sums up her own personal style.
Why did you want to study at LCF?
I’ve always had a passion for the sciences, mainly chemistry, and the beauty industry. I wanted a course that would offer a mix of both and came across MSc Cosmetic Science.
What has been the best part of the course so far?
The laboratory session! I love that this course is so hands on when it comes to the actual creation of the products. There’s nothing more rewarding than creating a successful product on your own.
What are the staff like?
The staff tries to help us in any way they can while giving us leeway in order to develop our confidence and independence when it comes to formulating.
What are your hopes for the future?
My hopes are to launch my own product line that will not only be effective but also help other people.
What has been the most important challenge that studying at LCF has helped you to overcome?
Overcoming challenges on your own. When it comes to formulating, things go wrong all the time whether it’s from human error or mechanical error. I have learned to solve these problems on my own using the information that has been taught or through research.
How did you apply for the integrated masters? Did you know what you wanted to do for your masters by the time you finished school?
I applied to this course with the help of UKEAS. They made the application process so easy and clear with the help and attention of their staff. Yes, I knew what I wanted to do for my masters when I applied and graduating with both an undergraduate and masters degree just made this course the perfect choice!
What is it like moving to London to study?
At first it was quite intimidating to move to a foreign country on my own but I have learned to adjust and with time and the help of my friends I have made London my new home.
Where do you live?
I rent a flat in South West London
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to travel and explore different places and try things I’ve never done before. I also love to go out with my friends and try all the different things London has to offer.
What sums up your own fashion style?
I’d say simple chic; I hover towards neutral colours that flatter my body type but are comfortable for daily wear.
What is the most important piece of advice you would give to someone thinking about studying Cosmetic Science at LCF?
Go for it! This course is designed for a variety of personalities whether you are more into the science part or the beauty part. What’s great about it is you get the best of both worlds. You learn so much, at the same time you see your own progress by applying your knowledge through hands-on activities.
Three words all cosmetic scientists should live by…
Don’t forget goggles!
