An insight into one of the most coveted jobs in the fashion industry. This fashion journalism course will teach you what it takes to write about the inspiration behind Christopher Kane's latest collection or H&M's hottest celebrity collaboration.
We'll teach you the basics of fashion reporting, from interviews and catwalk analysis, to trend interpretation and feature brainstorming.
The course includes:
- How to write a fashion news story
- Interview techniques for quizzing fashion designers
- Analysing a new season collection
- Trend spotting
- Brainstorming feature ideas
- The importance of networking
- Showroom and retail field trips
Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
If your first language isn't English, you'll be expected to demonstrate good written English skills either by submitting a 300-word article, or a certificate in line with our booking conditions.
Your course place is confirmed once you have booked online or via the phone using a credit or debit card. There is no deadline for booking. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, and all courses have a maximum number of students. We suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.
Paul Tierney is a London-based fashion journalist, editor, university lecturer, and a tutor at London College of Fashion. He teaches on fashion journalism courses in London and Dubai. Paul is regularly commissioned by the world’s leading newspapers and magazines, including Love, Pop, Another Man, The Independent and The London Evening Standard. He is the Editor at Large of bi-annual style magazine, Ponystep, a regular columnist for Grazia Middle East, and a consultant to Conde Nast UK. With over 25 years experience, Paul is one of the leading authorities in his field, and commissions some of the world's most respected writers.
Notepad, pen and a digital camera (or mobile phone with a good quality camera). As part of your research you will be required to do some printing. Please bring a small amount of cash to the course on your first day to credit your printing account. It is unlikely you will need to spend more than £5.
