Description

This 2-week intensive course will explore textile design in more depth. In the first week you will visit a London Museum for inspiration and develop your drawing and painting skills in order to enrich your print designs. Don’t worry if you’re not a natural artist, prints can be abstract textures and collages, this is all about developing your personal style. All that is required is to bring your enthusiasm and to have fun!

The course will introduce the fascinating world of digital print for textiles using the latest in digital printing technology. You will also explore fashion collections and designers who use these techniques to enhance your knowledge of the medium. Digital printing offers fast paced results with strong visual impact. Unlike conventional printing methods, it enables your designs to be reproduced accurately and without the loss of subtle or intricate detailing.

Throughout the course you will develop your own ideas using a variety of media sources: drawings, painting, collage or photography. Working to a set project brief over 2 weeks you will manipulate your ideas in Photoshop before finally digitally printing your designs onto fabric, creating a scarf and coordinating length of fabric suitable for a simple garment. On completion of this course you will have a finished print of your artwork along with your digital creations on a scarf and length of fabric.

The course includes:

  • Research techniques
