This course is aimed at the budding entrepreneur who is looking to start a beauty business. You’ll be taken through all the elements of a business start-up and be given practical advice on how to plan effectively for your new business venture.

The course will start with discussing the market opportunity, finance and business plan and which channels are appropriate for your brand.  You’ll then move on to discuss marketing and how to gain awareness for your brand. Finally the course covers how to gain distribution for your brand into retail or other channels. You’ll leave the course with an awareness of customer requirements as well as a basic understanding of the financial needs to ensure continuity and success when starting your own beauty business.

Level:

Intermediate. To fully benefit from this course you should have experience of the beauty industry. You should come to the course prepared to discuss your potential business idea.

Tutor information

Fiona is an experienced commercial professional who has worked in senior roles for many large retail companies, including Boots, Kingfisher – Superdrug, Woolworths , B&Q and Carpetright plc   All the companies were undergoing rapid change and had large growth plans. Her original experience was as a retail buyer across a variety of sectors and she has in depth experience of sourcing and global supply chains. She was Business Development Director for Liz Earle ltd, which is a £50m UK skincare brand developed through different channels of digital, home shopping and retail.   This brand was subsequently sold to Walgreens Boots Alliance.
