Description

This course shows you how to turn the ideas for bags you’ve been dreaming about into 3-dimensional reality - and will inspire you to create others you hadn’t even considered!  It’s a wide-ranging course covering the basics as well as in-depth detail about all manner of techniques and details, concepts and styles.

 The course includes:

  • Patterns for different construction methods
  • A huge range of concepts and styles
  • Demonstrations
  • Hands-on involvement

You’ll finish the course with 3-dimensional cardboard mock ups of everything you’ve worked on plus the information you need to execute almost any design you can imagine such as totes, shoppers, clutches, evening bags, day bags, sports bags, pouches, pochettes and practical bags; soft or structured, big or small.

Level:

Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.

Booking: 

Your course place is confirmed once you have booked online or via the phone using a credit or debit card. There is no deadline for booking. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, and all courses have a maximum number of students. We suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.

Tutor information

Selina Cheong has been working in the leather accessories industry for over 8 years. She graduated from Central St Martins in 2004. Her career began as a textile designer when she retrained in accessories at Cordwainers.  She has worked freelance for a number of different designers and recently set up a partnership with another leathersmith making samples for catwalks, press pieces and pre production development, as well as small production runs. Selina’s clients range from high end luxury to young start up designers.

Georgie Tym graduated from Cordwainers at London College of Fashion and since then has worked for many luxury accessories companies, gaining extensive industry experience. Georgie is involved with the product at every stage of design and creation; from 2D to 3D realisation. Her most recent role covered the design, development, sampling and production at a tannery in Somerset, re-branding a luxury leather goods brand. She has a broad and in depth knowledge of the leather industry and enjoys sharing this as a tutor on LCF BA (HONS) CORDWAINERS FASHION BAGS AND ACCESSORIES course as well as the short courses at LCF. Georgie also continues to offer a bespoke bag making service, specialising in functional accessories for bicycles. http://handsoftym.com/
