The Wallace Collection: products for the gallery shop
Illustration students produced innovative designs for the gallery shop at The Wallace Collection.
A cosmetic range to feel good about.
Britain's original ethical beauty brand The Body Shop, teamed up with London College of Fashion to create a capsule range of cosmetic products to feel good about. Named Brush With Fashion, the cruelty-free, limited edition collection was launched internationally and featured lip and eye colours with built-in brushes, mascara, concealer and a brush kit all branded with covetable lipstick-kissed packaging designed by a BA Fashion Illustration student.
Although always at the forefront of cosmetic design and pioneers for ethical product development, The Body Shop are not a ‘fashion’ brand, and in teaming up with LCF they have gained access to a network of fashion experts, who are able to keep pushing the brand forward. This can be seen in the promotional imagery for the ‘Brush With Fashion’ collection, which features a stunning orange and purple gown designed by LCF graduate and rising star womenswear designer William Tempest.
LCF and The Body Shop launched the range with a catwalk show, in central London, where models of diverse ages and sizes walked a runway wearing make-up designed from the ‘Brush With Fashion’ range and eco-friendly garments designed by LCF students and graduates.
Initially presented to students as a competition and the student whose illustration work was selected was Katarina Voloder- a second year from LCF’s BA Fashion Illustration course. As part of her prize, she was given the chance to travel the world with The Body Shop, as the products were launched internationally.
"We are proud to be allied with The Body Shop, an iconic British brand whose beliefs and principles truly echo our own. This first collaboration has been an exciting experience for all, involving London College of Fashion students across a range of disciplines including fashion design, fashion illustration, styling, make-up, photography and fashion promotion. We welcome The Body Shop’s commitment to supporting and nurturing British trained creative talent and see this as the start of a longer-term partnership."
Professor Frances Corner OBE, Head of College
"We chose Katarina’s design because it’s fresh, impactful and very beautiful. Her illustrations manage to combine an ultra-modern fashion feel with a timeless elegance. We’re delighted that her design will be gracing the ‘Brush With Fashion’ packaging, adding a cutting-edge chic to our innovative make-up."
