Biography

Tell us about yourself…

I’m a programmer and animator, working in London. Currently I’m developing iPhone apps, whilst teaching half the week.

What’s your background?

I studied here at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2011, where I was later offered position as the Specialist Web & Open Source Technician.

How did you come to work at CSM?

Through a graduate scheme offered by the University to help a few graduates a year into employment.

What do you love most about your job?

Students are constantly asking for programming solutions for the most ridiculous ideas. We have to solve problems here you wouldn’t have to solve anywhere else. There are no inhibitions, most of the projects are experiments. There’s a lot of demand, and we have to work quickly to solve the puzzles they’ve come up with. What I’ve found recently however, is that those solutions are working their way into the code in my “real world” projects. I’m supplanting conventions I’ve taken for granted because of the work I do here.

What's your favourite thing about Central Saint Martins?

The diversity in disciplines, people, and projects all bumping into each other, and the sound of the rain on the inflatable roof.
