Biography

Theresa is the Knitted Textiles Pathway Leader and has over 30 years’ experience as an international designer. She is interested in multi-disciplinary design and ways of using materials and she has worked as a designer for knitted fabrics and fashion as well as printed textiles. Her studio exhibited regularly at Indigo in Paris and was part of the founding group of the English Accents show in New York. Her studio designed print, knit and embroidery fabrics for both fashion and interiors; clients included Calvin Klein, Cerutti, Gap, Jousse, Ted Baker, The Limited, Texunion, Tissus Boussac.

She has undertaken special commissions for companies including Daniel Hechter, Whistles, Ted Baker, In-Wear, and Euro Disney, where she developed patterned product ideas as part of promotional packages for newly released films. She has also produced customised design concepts for trend-forecasting companies including Trend Union, Nelly Rodi and La Maille. Her work has been featured in Vogue and Harpers Bazaar.

She has also trained in landscape garden design and uses her knowledge and love of colour and pattern when she works on designs and illustrations for public and private spaces.

Pedagogic interests include consideration of the part played in creativity by risk-taking and serendipity. Research Interests include pattern and shadow in the external environment; materials; and mixed-media approaches to textiles.
