Katherine Skellon

Spatial Practices Programme; Second Year Tutor, MA Narrative Environments.

Katherine is a designer and design consultant specialising in exhibition and museum design. With over 20 years’ experience within the UK and international exhibition design industry, she has worked on a wide variety of temporary and permanent projects in both the cultural and commercial sectors. Katherine has worked with leading design companies Land Design, Ralph Appelbaum Associates and until recently was a Creative Director with Event.

Trained as a 3D designer, Katherine’s practice is to continually explore new ways of designing spaces at any scale – from exhibitions and museums, to brand centres and visitor attractions. Working collaboratively with others, she enjoys developing projects that combine object display, theatrical setworks, installation art, interactivity, digital media and graphic design.

Katherine uses her work and teaching to push the boundaries of existing practice and finding new ways to interpret, present and connect with audiences. She is interested in how humans commune with objects and how the visitor’s journey through a space can be shaped and informed by the elements around them.
