Hannah Rickards

To enable me to fix my attention on any one of these symbols I was to imagine that I was looking at the colours as I might see them on a moving picture screen., Installation view, Modern Art Oxford. (Photography: Andy Stagg, 2014)

Fine Art Programme; 4D Pathway Tutor, BA Fine Art

My work explores the relationship between natural phenomena and our experience of them, often through a process of translation in which acts of nature are rendered into sounds, texts, spoken word, gestures and installations. I was the recipient of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2008/09.

My work has been exhibited at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Witte de With, Rotterdam; and at the South London Gallery, with solo exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery, The Showroom and Artspeak, Vancouver.
