Sophie Chenevix Trench
Culture and Enterprise Programme; MA Innovation Management, Associate Lecturer Spatial Practices Programme; MA Narrative Enviroments, Mentor and Placement Broker / Tutor on Show Design
I am a spatial designer, creating narrative environments and experiences in commercial and cultural settings. I received a BA Interior Architecture from University of Montreal, and went on to complete an MA in Narrative Environments at Central Saint Martins.
My multidisciplinary skills have led her to navigate between the design of permanent-natured environments including workplace, retail and hospitality, and ephemeral ones such as exhibitions, brand experiences, festivals and immersive events. As well as designing environments my work extends to brand creation, design strategy and research.
Collaboration is at the core of my practice. In 2013 I co-founded the London and Copenhagen-based studio Torvits + Trench - offering creative and strategic solutions for global brands and institutions. Alongside this I regularly joins forces with other fellow designers. Clients include: Nike, Rolls-Royce, Beats by Dre, BBC Worldwide, UEFA, Converse, MTV, Google, National Gallery of Denmark and the British Library.
An ongoing area of interest has been understanding and forecasting innovative scenarios for our built environments. Currently this involves unpicking trends and designing new opportunities within the Future of Retail.
