Communication, relationship building and a love of story are the common threads running through my experience to date. Having studied English at Durham University, I then trained and worked as a journalist, reporting on the publishing industry just as digital was transforming the book trade. Through many conversations with my contacts, I developed a keen interest in the industry itself, and in 2013 I moved across to work in the new Brand team at Pan Macmillan, the fourth largest global trade publisher. I continue in this department to date, having grown my role, working with cross-company teams to develop our most commercial authors across fiction, non-fiction and children's. My focus is on driving growth, and delivering brand insights to the company.
A love of reading, luckily, fits well with my job, though I do also head outdoors to galleries, the theatre, and to play tennis and swim – most recently completing my first wild swimming event in Devon. Spending time with family and friends is always important to me, too.
I’m excited that the Central Saint Martins Birkbeck MBA is now underway, and motivated to progress over the next 18 months by combining studying and working, as well as through meeting and collaborating with everyone on the course.
