The Summer School core classes are:

  • Acting from a methodological approach
  • Physical studies
  • Vocal studies
  • Improvisation and mask work
  • Stage Combat
  • Music and coral singing
  • Shakespeare
  • Contemporary devising
  • Radio

The classes are 90 minutes so that every student can have individual attention. The course runs Monday to Friday 09.30am to 5pm and a trip to the theatre on the first and second Saturday, with one evening trip in week 3.

Cultural Programme

You will also participate in a structured programme which will enable you to make full use of the cultural life of London at the same time as your course.

A selection of six productions will be chosen from the following: London’s West End, Shakespeare’s Globe, Sadler’s Wells, Off-West End productions at the internationally acclaimed Donmar Warehouse and Almedia, as well as Fringe shows and a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon with a matinee performance at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Entry Requirements

Students must be between 16-25. Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.

Additional costs

Materials: A list of materials is provided on the booking form.

Accommodation: The cost of accommodation in the halls of residence ranges from £36-£84. Early booking is essential. 

Students are responsible for payment of air flights, travel and medical insurance, travel to and from the Drama Centre building and accommodation arrangements.

Travel: (Not including travel to and from Kings Cross) If paying in cash, travelling on the tube will cost £51 for six trips. If paying with an Oyster card it will be £3 for the card and £30 for six trips. You can purchase an Oyster Card through TFL.

Food: Students will need £30 for sandwiches and drinks for trips. If buying lunch from the canteen at Drama Centre then £5 a day should be enough - £75 total.
