Description

This is a technical drawing workshop which explores the basics of space and architecture. You will begin by carrying out surveys and research, then learn how to analyse your investigations with the aim of creating a design proposal. Throughout the two weeks you will develop fundamental drawing skills so that you can employ the most appropriate medium for illustrating specific architectural ideas. 

Topics covered

The course covers a variety of different drawing types including:

  • plans
  • elevations
  • sections
  • details
  • axonometric drawing
  • perspectives and collage

An individual project will be developed by the end of the course which could be used to begin a portfolio for applying to study architecture.

Who should take this course?

The course is aimed at all those interested in a future career in architecture, those who are new to the discipline and students who need a refresher in a creative and pleasant environment.

Tutor information

Eiffel Wong works as an architect and a designer in his own practice in Berlin and London. Previously, he was a visiting tutor on the MA Industrial Design course at Central Saint Martins. He formulated the curriculum for the very first architectural shot course at CSM in 2002/03. He studied at the Architectural Association in the 90s.


Materials

Please bring the following items:

  • 10 x A1 drawing paper (594x84mm)
  • 30 x A3 drawing paper (420x297mm)
  • tracing paper

Please also bring these important drawing tools:

  • f pencils (between H and B pencil) and sharpener
  • pen 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,0.8
  • scale ruler, showing 1:10, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200.etc
  • 45º Set square, 25 cm long
  • 30º Set square, 30 cm long
  • rubber
  • masking tape
  • cutter or scissors
  • glue
  • measuring tape (5m Stanley)
  • circular template or/and compass
