Photography for 16 to 18 Year Olds Short Course

Course description

Whether you have experience of photography or a complete beginner this course will guide you through the basics of 35mm film photography. If you are considering a future in photography, using photography in your practice or looking to improve your technique then this course will help you to get the most out of your camera and build that all-important portfolio. Specifically designed for young learners the course will be fun and informative, and will consist of a step-by-step guide on how to improve your skills and present your images to their best.

During the course you will work on location, taking exciting and unusual images and developing them to a portfolio standard. You will use a traditional film camera in order to learn how to alter your camera settings according to light, speed and the different effects you want to create. You will work to a brief set by the tutors that will enable you to practice all of the techniques that are covered during the week.

You will get the chance to use a darkroom in order to develop your own film and images. The emphasis is on creating exciting, new images using light and shade and the chemical processes available through traditional photography.

At the end of the course, you will have gained the knowledge of how photography is taught at degree course level, with the confidence to go out and build your portfolio independently.
