Description

This course is suitable for students who have already mastered the fundamental creative controls of their digital cameras and wish to progress to a more project-oriented course, similar in style to the BA Graphic Design photography module at Central Saint Martins. You will undertake a series of short, challenging briefs and learn professional photo-editing skills in Adobe Photoshop plus attend lectures on composition and lighting. There will also be group critiques, a small research project and presentations intended to increase your awareness of photography and how it is used in context. With the support of your tutors and peers this friendly and informal course will help you understand the value of developing a personal point of view in your photographic work. This course is best suited to students with digital SLR cameras and advanced 'compacts' with manual controls.

Tutor information

Brendan Olley is a recent graduate from Central Saint Martins.Specializing in photography he has since worked with a number of clients as varied as the BBC to the Fringe Arts Festival. He predominately works within the realm of portraiture within a studio based environment. Along side his editorial work Brendan also shoots larger documentary projects which can span over 1 - 2 years. He practices photography from his studio in East London whilst also maintaining a success platform website for young photographers were he currently helps over 300 emerging photographers.
Tim Marshall teaches photography on BA Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins.

  • Pen and notepad
  • Digital Camera (preferably an SLR)
  • A small folio of your previous work in either print or digital (CD etc) form would be an advantage.
