This is an introductory programme to the popular 3D Modelling and Animation application 3D Studio Max Design aimed at people who are new to the subject.The course is biased towards 3D Design professionals such as Architects, Product, Furniture, Packaging, Jewellery and Ceramic Designers. It may however also be of interest to 2D Designers who desire to include 3D elements within their work such as Web and Graphic creative professionals.

Topics covered

The course covers the basics of modelling, texturing, lighting, cameras, rendering and animation

The focus will be towards developing sound modelling skills.

The work will be practically based and students taught via practical “hands on” class based examples and exercises, which can contribute to a personal portfolio of work.

Who should take this course?

The course is intended to enable practitioners to incorporate 3D modelling, rendering and animation techniques into their day to day professional practice.

Tutor information

Pervez Sethna originally trained as an industrial designer and practiced for many years as a design consultant with Kirkbride Associates which specialized in the design of capital goods for manufacture. Following the successful completion of an MA in 1996, his career shifted emphasis towards computer aided design and digital media. He has taught at the University of Teesside, Coventry University, University of Hertfordshire, University of Luton and also Cavendish College. He currently teaches on several Digital Media courses at the London College of Contemporary Arts and is also responsible for the computing provision on the BA (Hons) Product Design course at Central Saint Martins.
