This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in journalism and who is looking to pursue a career whether full time or freelance in newspapers and magazines. It will introduce you to the basic skills a journalist requires to work in news and features. You will discover how these stories progress from the idea to the printed page. From researching, interviewing and writing to editing and journalism law; you will see how stories are put together. By the end of the course, you should be able to write in a journalistic style and have a clearer picture of how to become a journalist.

Tutor information

Tony Padman has been a journalist for local, regional, European and national newspapers since 1999. After spending five years in news, he moved to features specializing in stories on health, religion, sport and education. He now concentrates on entertainment journalism for the national newspapers.
