Description

This introductory course looks at the discipline of packaging design exploring the aspects that make it such a vibrant, energetic and buoyant division of the design industry. It aims to give you a fundamental understanding of what packaging design is about, what makes it different and why we need it. A series of student-led and practice-based workshops will give you and opportunity to explore each stage of the design process.

The course is structured to be interactive and involving, with a mixture of independent work and small group learning, with regularly set tasks. You will also work on a main design project which will be taken from brief through to presentation, helping you learn how to communicate ideas and get your point across at every step of the process.

Topics covered include:

  • designing for a mainstream brand
  • understanding the brief
  • generating your conceptual design
  • developing your ideas
  • presenting your concepts.
