Specially designed for young learners with ambitions to work in the creative industry, this course will cover the basics of branding and marketing with a focus on understanding how to design your identity and treat yourself as a brand. It will provide you with a good understanding of the world of branding and logos and how to visually represent brand values.

Topics covered

  • The class will be taught through a brief-driven project, short lecture-style talks and workshops, and group exercises.
  • We will explore all the aspects of creating a brand, from initial concepts through to design development and final application.
  • At the end of the course, you will have produced a personal logo that can be used for portfolio, CV for first placement position or web /social media sites.

Who should take this course?

Young students with an interest in branding and logos.

Level:  Appropriate for both beginners and intermediate level students.

Entry requirements

  • You must be at least 16 and no older than 18 years old.
  • Good drawing skills would be advantageous but is not a requirement.

Tutor information

Danish designer Alexander Hinnerskov graduated in 2007 with a BA Honours in Product Design from CSM. His interdisciplinary approach has led him to work with fashion, visual merchandising, styling, interior design and product design. Having experience in all aspects of the creative process across design disciplines has meant working with brands such as Selfridges, Esquire Magazine, Swarovski, Tomasz Starzewski and Alexander McQueen.

  • Pencil case with a variety of pencils and pens of your choice
  • Pritt stick
  • Masking tape
  • Scissors
  • A3 portrait sketchbook (paperback)
  • Camera (phone)
