If you have done a painting course before and wish to take your practice to a more advanced level, this is the course for you. It is specifically designed for experienced students who wish to build on their painting skills and develop a more personal style.
The course is taught within a friendly atmosphere that fosters personal development. Our studio culture has a strong sense of community born out of meeting common painting issues. Students learn from each other in a vibrant environment that caters for a variety of approaches to painting. There is also the benefit of being taught by two tutors, who bring their different insights and approaches to the course.
Topics covered include:
- colour management, layers, texture and composition
- personal development supported by personal tuition and group critiques
- discussion about the work of modern and contemporary artists
- reference to specific artists who may be relevant to your individual goals
The course provides an opportunity for you to practice and enhance your painting techniques and produce sustained pieces. You will be encouraged to expand your vision as an artist. Advice is available to students who wish to move to a profession level and start exhibiting their work.
Who should take this course?
Anyone with some previous painting experience who wishes to improve their skills.
You should have some previous experience and/or done a previous painting course before. Beginners should take one of our introductory courses such as Painting: The First Step (daytime Tuesdays), Beginners Painting (Saturdays) or our Evening Painting short course.
This is a unique course and our students keep returning to it as they find that it offers a great studio environment that which allows them to continue to enhance their practice.
