Working with a model, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of the form and structure of the human figure and the variety of ways in which it can be interpreted and expressed in drawing, from the objective and analytical to the more personal and intuitive. Over the duration of the course you will explore proportion, scale, composition and perspective. We will also look at anatomy and its relation to form, structure, line, tone and shape.
You will be allowed to work at your own pace whilst being encouraged to experiment with materials and techniques.The skills introduced during the course will be crucial for learners who wish to carry on exploring painting and more advanced drawing skills.
Topics covered include:
- introducing drawing materials
- mark-making techniques
- studying human proportion
- building composition skills
- depicting light and shade
Who should take this course?
Absolute beginners are welcome, as are those who wish to refresh their drawing skills or strengthen their portfolio for application to further studies.
Entry requirements: None
Please bring with you to the first session:
- 6 sheets of A1 Cartridge Paper
- 20 sheets of newsprint
- Pencils (3B & 5B)
- Masking tape
- Putty rubber
- Willow charcoal (medium)
- Fixative spray (cheap hairspray will do)
