Description

The Open Life Drawing Class has been designed for the use of students at all levels from beginners to advanced, and addresses all the fundamental issues involved in drawing the figure:- 1) methods of making visual judgements, 2) ways of creating the illusion of three-dimensional form on a flat surface and 3) the development of design awareness. Materials are kept to a minimum, pencils, charcoal and erasers being the only requirements for most of the course with the use of colour being optional in the latter stages.

The structure of the course allows for the practice and development of basic skills with the additional focus on particular aspects throughout the term including the use of directional lighting in relation to the model and a consideration of ways in which course drawings might be used as a basis for the creation of individual student’s own pictorial and design ideas.

The character and format of work produced has been devised to be of particular use to students requiring work suitable for portfolio course applications.

A range of different models, male and female, is a usual characteristic of the course.

Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
