Introduction to Sculpture Short Course

Course description

This course offers an intensive introduction to a variety of sculptural techniques. It will not presume any previous knowledge. You will be able to realise ideas you already have or to develop new ones through handling materials. These will range from plaster to salvaged materials or found objects. The course will concentrate on finding ways of working which will enable you to continue to work cheaply.

Students are asked to bring with them a basic set of hand tools; saw, hammer, pliers, wire cutters to cut chicken wire, scissors, etc. It is important to wear suitable clothing; overalls or old clothing are recommended. As some of the constructions you make may not be movable a photographic record will be kept and advice on how to photograph your work will be given.

Clear, easy to understand lessons:

  • Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
